Vehicle Brands Key Genie Works On
Particular depth of experience with VW Group, BMW, Ford and Mercedes-Benz vehicles, alongside most other makes and models, cars and vans alike.
Why Some Brands Get Deeper Coverage Than Others
Key cutting and programming equipment varies by manufacturer, which is why depth of coverage isn't identical across every brand. Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Škoda share much of the same underlying electronics and security platform as part of the Volkswagen Group, so Matt's access to ODIS, Volkswagen's own dealer-level diagnostic and programming software, covers all four. BMW and Ford are supported through Autel, Xhorse and ACDP equipment. Modern vehicle security systems are built to standards set by bodies such as Thatcham Research, and understanding how those systems communicate with a key is central to diagnosing faults correctly, whichever brand is involved.
Vehicle Brands, In Detail
Seven brands with dedicated pages below. Driving something else? Matt covers most other makes and models too — get in touch to check.
One of the makes Matt covers most often, using Volkswagen's own ODIS dealer-level software for key programming and diagnostics rather than a third-party workaround.
Recent example: a VW Beetle's ignition wouldn't switch off or release the key. Diagnosis pointed to a faulty steering lock, replaced on-site from stock.

That means the same ODIS-based programming and diagnostic access used across the wider VW Group applies here too, for key cutting, programming and fault diagnosis.

The same ODIS-based programming and diagnostic access used for VW and Škoda covers SEAT models too, rather than relying on a generic universal tool.

Recent example: a Škoda Enyaq owner had their key stolen with a bag at the airport. A new lock set, two fobs and reprogramming via ODIS removed the stolen key from the vehicle's system.

That includes most current petrol, diesel and hybrid Ford models, cars and vans alike.

Recent example: a Mercedes B-Class that wouldn't start was traced to a faulty electronic steering lock, fixed by programming a replacement using the vehicle's own data.

Vehicle Brands — FAQs
Yes, in most cases. The seven brands above have dedicated pages because they're the makes Matt works on most, but most other manufacturers and models are covered too — call to confirm your specific vehicle.
Yes. Each manufacturer uses its own security system and, in some cases, its own dealer-level software, which is why equipment like ODIS is used specifically for VW Group vehicles rather than a single universal tool for everything.
Yes — the same brand and platform coverage applies to commercial vans as well as cars, across most major manufacturers.
Not always. In many cases a new key can be cut and programmed without the original, though this depends on the specific make, model and security system — see lost car keys for more detail.
